Description
A creative photography book for calm, confidence and self discovery.
Mindful Photography is a gentle creative journal and photography guide designed to help you slow down, notice beauty in everyday life and use your camera or phone as a tool for calm, creativity and reflection.
This book was born from my own experience of moving through a difficult and challenging period of time, including early menopause, overwhelm, and later understanding more about myself through autism and ADHD.
Photography became one of the ways I came back to myself.
It helped me pause when life felt busy.
It helped me notice small moments of beauty when things felt heavy.
It helped me reconnect with my creativity, confidence and sense of self.
It also became part of how I rebuilt my life and business in a way that felt more aligned.
This book is not about taking perfect photographs.
It is about learning to see differently.
Through personal story, mindful photography prompts, practical exercises and simple photography guidance, this book will help you create a more meaningful relationship with photography — whether you use your phone, a DSLR or a mirrorless camera.

This book is for you if you are feeling overwhelmed, creatively stuck, disconnected from yourself, unsure how to slow down, or simply looking for a more mindful way to enjoy photography.
It may especially resonate if you are moving through change, burnout, early menopause, neurodivergence, ADHD, autism, anxiety, business overwhelm, or a period of life where you are trying to come back to yourself gently.
You do not need expensive equipment or photography experience.
You simply need a camera, a little curiosity and a willingness to pause.
This is photography for the heart, not just the eye.

I wrote Mindful Photography from lived experience.
Photography supported me through early menopause, overwhelm, business change and the process of understanding myself more deeply through autism and ADHD.
It gave me something simple to return to when life felt busy or uncertain: one moment, one image, one breath at a time.
My hope is that this book gives you permission to slow down, notice what matters and use photography in a way that feels calm, creative and personal to you.
Warm wishes,
Sarah Louise Johnson
